About
Ev Stanton is an artist and writer. He holds a PhD in History from the University of California, Irvine. Ev is also a community cultural events co-producer for the LORE Foundation, NPO in Los Angeles, CA. Along with occasionally teaching at the university level, he co-created a middle-grade nonfiction series, Haunted Histories: Creepy Castles, Dark Dungeons, and Powerful Palaces, Henry Holt Publishing, Mac Millan Press, Inc. He regularly contributed as an illustrator for the Los Angeles Times, Kid's Reading Corner. His first children's picture book, The Candy Palace, was published by the MMJ Foundation Press and Second Harvest Food Bank. In partnership with MMJ Foundation, Ev has also helped create and implement the school giving programs for the Candy Palace project. Trained in illustration and painting by famed Hanna Barbera artist, Bob Singer and Disney artist Roger Armstrong, Ev also serves as the artist ambassador for the Candy Palace Charity. In addition to his current book projects, Ev has worked as a freelance concept illustrator for Jim Henson Company and has created concept covers for Scholastic Books. He served as an editor on Me and My World, as well as several other titles for the educational publisher, Teacher Created Resources. He has written articles for children’s literature publications and websites including: SCBWI Kite Tales, Children’s Book Insider, and The Reading Tub and is a featured author in the California Reader's Association and Authors Now! He has also co-created and managed a team for packaging children's television programming concepts that were pitched to PBS, Discovery Channel, and VOD distributors.
